यूनिवर्सिटीज की भरमार, गुणवत्ता में पड़ रही मार, देखें रैंकिंग में हम कहां…

भारत, जो दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी युवा आबादी वाला देश है, उच्च शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में भी तेजी से आगे बढ़ रहा है। 2025 तक भारत में 659 सरकारी और कुल 1168 विश्वविद्यालय हैं। हाल ही में QS World University Ranking 2026 और Times Higher Education रैंकिंग में भारत के 54 विश्वविद्यालय शामिल हुए हैं, जिनमें लगभग 50% संस्थानों की रैंकिंग में सुधार हुआ है। IIT दिल्ली, IIT मद्रास, IISc बेंगलुरु, और दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय जैसी संस्थाओं ने वैश्विक मंच पर भारत का नाम रोशन किया है। हालांकि, भारत की यूनिवर्सिटीज़ को गुणवत्ता, रिसर्च, इंडस्ट्री-एकेडेमिया गैप, अंतरराष्ट्रीयकरण, प्रशासनिक जटिलताएँ और डिजिटल डिवाइड जैसी चुनौतियों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। NEP 2020, रिसर्च फंडिंग, डिजिटल लर्निंग और अंतरराष्ट्रीय साझेदारी जैसे कदमों से सुधार की दिशा तय हो गई है। यदि इन पहलों को सही दिशा मिले, तो भारत की यूनिवर्सिटीज़ आने वाले समय में विश्व स्तर पर शिक्षा और अनुसंधान के केंद्र बन सकती हैं।

India, home to the world’s largest youth population, is rapidly advancing in higher education. By 2025, India has 659 government and a total of 1168 universities. In the latest QS World University Ranking 2026 and Times Higher Education rankings, 54 Indian universities are featured, with nearly 50% improving their positions. Institutions like IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore, and Delhi University have brought global recognition to India.
However, Indian universities face challenges such as quality disparity, research output, industry-academia gap, lack of internationalization, administrative hurdles, and digital divide. With initiatives like NEP 2020, increased research funding, digital learning, and international collaborations, the path to improvement is set. If these efforts are implemented effectively, Indian universities can emerge as global centers of education and research in the coming years.
