लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल उपेंद्र द्विवेदी नए सेना प्रमुख यानी आर्मी चीफ होंगे वे मौजूदा सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल मनोज पांडे की जगह लेंगे, जो एक महीने की सेवा विस्तार के बाद 30 जून को रिटायर हो रहे हैं केंद्र सरकार ने द्विवेदी की नियुक्ति के आदेश जारी कर दिए हैं.
