छिंदवाड़ा में आधा दर्जन मासूम बच्चों की मौत के बाद भी सरकार अब तक सख्त कदम उठाने से बच रही है। जिन कफ सिरपों-कोल्ड्रिफ और नेक्सट्रॉस डीएस को मौत की वजह माना जा रहा है, वे अब भी खुले बाजार में बिक रहे हैं, वजह सिर्फ़ इतनी कि सरकार "रिपोर्ट आने का इंतजार" कर रही है।
