Lal Bahadur Shastri took over as the Prime Minister of India on 9 June 1964. On 26 January 1965, Shastri gave the slogan Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. Shastri was a true Gandhian, he spent his whole life in simplicity and devoted himself to the service of the poor. Lal Bahadur Shastri used to swim across the Ganga and go to study. The man who had slapped Shastri at Harishchandra Inter College, after becoming the Railway Minister, he hugged that person on the stage. Today is 2 october the birth anniversary of such a great man Lal Bahadur Shastri.
